Other plumbers claim that tankless water heaters are the “new thing” in irving plumbing, actually Tankless water heaters are not a new thing at all. People in Europe have had them for years! Tankless water heaters are a very cool technology that allow endless deliver of hot water at a temperature accuracy unmatched by any tanked water heater. You can also relocate tankless water heaters, and gain the space of where your tanked water heater once was. There are many makes and models of tankless water heaters, a few things to consider before you decide to buy:

How many gallons per minute (gpm) do you need?

How many square feet is your home?

What is the furthest distance from the heater to the furthest fixture?

Is your system gas or electric?

How many bathrooms / kitchens are in your home?

Tankless water heaters operate by heating up a certain amount of water upon you demanding for it. When you open the water tap, water flows through the unit and heats it as it travels. The more water you need (gpm), the more expensive the unit you need to install. One thing to consider; it will take longer for you to get the hot water. This technology “slows” the water down to get time to heat it for you. Normally, this time is negligable, in some cases it can slow the delivery down to an aggrivating pace. We do not suggest the use of an electric tankless water heater. Most of the time the electricity breaker box needs to be replaced (at a high cost), and we have found that most of the electric tankless water heaters are troublesome. They require a lot electricity to perform and you dont save that much money because of it. Until manufacturers come up with a better design, Jimmy Cash's Plumbing will not install a tankless electric water heater.

There is a “new” water heater technology out, it is called a “hybrid” water heater. This is a highly efficeient water heater system that allows water to be heated by both tanked and tankless water heater technology. Instantaneous and endless hot water can be achieved through this system, but the cost is very high right now. Hybrid water heaters are the most efficient, gives the most perormance, but also cost the most to install.
